| It is such a pleasure to paint the beauty I find in the world around me. I am constantly inspired by nature and by the works of great artists of the past and present - such as the portraits painted by John Singer Sargent and the light-filled paintings of Joaquin Sorolla. Combining my love for travel and painting is a particular source of enjoyment. I find some of my favorite subject matter in Portugal, where I grew up, and I also enjoy painting the urban landscape where I now live.
My paintings have been exhibited in galleries throughout the United States, including the Gallery Americana in Carmel, California; Galerie Kornye in Dallas and Galerie Kornye West in Fort Worth, Texas; Greenwich Workshop Gallery in Fairfield, Connecticut; Museum of American Illustration and The Salmagundi Club in New York City; and Whistle Pik Galleries in Fredericksburg, Texas. I have taught and guest lectured at several colleges and universities in Texas and have given many private painting workshops.
I also devote time to painting portraits. My portrait commissions have taken me across the United States and to England. My works include the official portrait of former Texas Governor Ann Richards, which hangs in the State Capitol in Austin, portraits for the National Institutes of Health, Southern Methodist University, Texas Instruments and Frito Lay, as well many portraits for families.
